Empathy does not come easily to everyone and requires that we see past our own perspectives on things and truly see the other person. Jesus understood the cultural reality of tension between the Jews and the Canaanites but saw past the "otherness" of the Canaanite woman and appreciated her faith for what it was. As a church we will exhibit empathy by resisting self-focus.

Since we are also closing in on a volatile political election, we will also pay attention to how the church can live these values in our society.
